Powering the future, protecting the environment
We see a good renewable energy project as one that is developed with input from the local community, shares benefits with those living around it, and delivers lasting regional benefits according to local needs. A project that doesn’t damage the environment, but conserves habitat and protects wildlife, while respecting local and cultural values.
Our vision for the Bashan Wind Farm project is ‘a socially and environmentally responsible wind farm, that’s in the right place’.
For the benefit of everyone
450 MW
The proposed Bashan Wind Farm could deliver up to 450 MW of clean, renewable energy to the grid.
30%
The wind farm will supply 30 percent of the Tasmanian Government’s 2030 Renewable Energy Target.
We have been exploring the proposed Bashan Wind Farm for a while now. Drawing on lessons from the adjoining Cattle Hill Wind Farm. We’ve developed a layout that’s been socialised with neighbours, and now we’d appreciate your input.
The current project could deliver 400 – 450 MW of renewable energy, transmitted directly to the electricity network crossing through the site. The project will help the Tasmanian Government meet its ambitious target of doubling the state’s renewable energy capacity. This will continue Tasmania’s legacy as Australia’s renewable energy leader, and support the uptake of green industries for years to come.
We recognise a wind farm shouldn’t just benefit landowners – we want to deliver benefits to the whole of the Central Highlands and communities within it – and we need your help to do that.
For the benefit of the Central Highlands
The area we have chosen has a history of renewable energy going back to the development of the state’s first hydro-electric power station at Waddamana, right beneath the Cattle Hill Wind Farm. If the project is approved and built, you’ll see the Bashan Wind Farm from the bottom of the Waddamana Power Trial, next to the Lake Echo Power Station, but you won’t see it from any highways or major arterial roads.
The Cattle Hill Wind Farm has managed to fit in without much disruption to the community or the environment. We think the Bashan Wind Farm will continue this tradition.
We invite you to help us design this project together. Your questions and feedback matter, and we would like to hear from you.

For the benefit of the environment
Having implemented a protection system that led to an increasing eagle population at Cattle Hill Wind Farm, we plan to take this pioneering work further at Bashan Wind Farm. We look forward to sharing the initiatives planned for the protection of eagles and other species which occupy the Bashan Wind Farm area.

This is a high-level overview of the planned Bashan Wind Farm development area. The proposed area is only indicative at this stage. The final development is subject to community consultation and regulatory and planning approvals.
